Geboortebos Maastricht
Voor alle kinderen uit stadsdeel Maastricht-Zuid (Heugem, Heugemerveld, Randwijck, De Heeg en Vroendaal) die geboren zijn in 2023, 2024 en 2025 legt gemeente Maastricht samen met het Centrum voor Natuur- en Milieueducatie (CNME) een geboortebosje aan. Kom je samen met de kinderenย een boompje planten?

Birth Forest Maastricht
The municipality of Maastricht, together with the Centre for Nature and Environmental Education (CNME), is creating a birth forest for all children from the Maastricht-Zuid district (Heugem, Heugemerveld, Randwijck, De Heeg, and Vroendaal) born in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Will you come and plant a tree with the children?

Ook voor sterrenkindjes
Het geboortebosje dragen we รณรณk op aan alle overleden, stilgeboren kindjes en sterrenkindjes geboren in 2023, 2024 en/of 2025. Deze ouders moesten veel te vroeg afscheid nemen van hun kindje. We willen dan ook eerst en vooral onze deelneming betuigen. Als je dit wilt, kun je ook op de plantdag een boompje komen planten in het geboortebosje als herinnering aan je kindje.
For star children as well
We also dedicate the birth forest to all deceased, stillborn, and star children born in 2023, 2024, and/or 2025. These parents had to say goodbye to their child far too soon. We would therefore like to express our condolences first and foremost. If you would like, you can also come and plant a tree in the birth forest on the planting day in memory of your child.
Wat is een geboortebosje?
Een geboortebosje is een klein bosje. Het bestaat uit inheemse struiken, kleine bomen, natuurlijke speelelementen als keien en boomstammen met paden om te bewandelen. In een geboortebosje symboliseren de bomen het groeien. Een geboortebosje groeit snel en krijgt een open en schaduwrijke uitstraling. Bovendien zijn de bosjes heerlijke plekken om in te spelen. Het CNME organiseert leuke activiteiten in het geboortebosje.
What is a birth forest?
A birth forest is a small woodland. It consists of native shrubs, small trees, and natural play elements like boulders and logs, with paths for walking. In a birth forest, the trees symbolize growth. A birth forest grows quickly and develops an open and shady appearance. The groves are wonderful places to play. CNME organizes fun activities in the birth forest.
Waarom een geboortebosje?
Een geboortebosje staat in het teken van nieuw leven. Kinderen en ouders zien hoe de geplante bomen zich ontwikkelen en groeien. Maar dat is niet het enige. De bosjes dragen ook bij aan biodiversiteit, luchtkwaliteit, schaduw en wateropvang, wat vooral belangrijk is nu het klimaat verandert!ย Dit jaar realiseren we twee geboortebosjes, een in stadsdeel Maastricht-Noordwest en een in stadsdeel Maastricht-Zuid. Zo komen alle stadsdelen in de komende jaren aan bod.
Why a birth forest?
A birth forest celebrates new life. Children and parents watch the planted trees develop and grow. But that’s not the only benefit. The forests also contribute to biodiversity, air quality, shade, and water retention, especially in this time of climate change! This year, we’re creating two birth forests, one in the North-West district and one in Maastricht-South. This way, all districts will be covered in the coming years.
Namenmonument
In het geboortebosje plaatsen we een aantal totempalen. Je kunt dan ter plekke de naam van uw kindje op een boomschijfje schrijven met een houtbrandpen of versieren met verfstiften. De boomschijfjes bevestigen we op de totempalen. Het CNME zorgt voor alle materialen. Je kunt ook een eigen meegebracht lint aan de boom bevestigen. Hierbij graag kiezen voor natuurlijke materialen.
Name monument
We’ll be placing several totem poles in the birth forest. You can write your child’s name on a tree disk with a wood burning pen or decorate it with paint markers. We’ll attach the tree disks to the totem poles. The CNME will provide all the materials. You can also bring your own ribbon and attach it to the tree. Please choose natural materials.

Voorwaarden om je aan te melden
- Je hebt een brief ontvangen van gemeente Maastricht met daarin de uitnodiging voor deelname aan het geboortebos.
- Je bent akkoord dat jouw gegevens enkel worden gebruikt voor het organiseren van deze plantdagen en eventuele workshops in het geboortebos in de toekomst.
- Je gegevens komen op een deelnemerslijst te staan zodat we weten hoeveel mensen meedoen per locatie.
- Meedoen is gratis.
Conditions
- Youโve received a letter from the municipality of Maastricht with the invitation to join planting at one of the birch forests.
- You agree that your data is being used to organize this event or future events in the birth forest.
- Your data will only be used to manage our expectations.
- Participating is free.
